Please find below information received from Ian Ingham Assistant Swimming Development Officer & Competition Manager, Liverpool City Council

Please find attached a flyer advertising the Disability Sports Events National Mini Games "North" 2010, and an entry pack for the event which is taking place from 21st – 23rd May at the Leigh Sports Village, Sale way, Leigh, WN7 4JY.

Swimming is just one of the sports included in the mini games, would you please circulate this information to any of your members who may be interested in taking part and also to any additional contacts you may have in your area such as other Clubs, Schools or Swim Schools etc your support would be greatly appreciated.

The Liverpool City Council Swimming Training Scheme is brining together all swimmers from all the local swimming clubs and we are making our program as inclusive as possible with no barriers being put in the way of swimmers with disabilities joining the squad program. We are delighted to say that a number of swimmers with disabilities are already training with the scheme and have progressed to compete at the highest level possible including the A.S.A. National Championships and the Disability Sports Events National Short & Long Course Championships and one of our main aims and objectives in the future is to see swimmers from the City of Liverpool program compete in the Paralympics, may be even 2012 in London.

Local Swimming Club Swimmers Squad Trials - In recent months, after conversations with many of the local swimming clubs representatives, Mike Roberts as Chief Coach has initiated a Saturday morning swim trial for any swimmer who has been identified by the local club coaches with potential and with a view to joining one of the Liverpool City Council Swim Squads. If you have a swimmer who is showing potential and the right attributes, not necessarily the fastest swimmer in the water but with good skills and technique and an interest in becoming a very good swimmer of the future, please contact either Mike Roberts or Ian Ingman at the Swimming Development Office to arrange a trial session on a Saturday morning at the Liverpool Aquatics Centre from 8.00 am.

Liverpool City Council are running a "Schools Competition Week" between 23rd - 26th March 2010 at the Liverpool Aquatics Centre including galas for Primary, Secondary Schools and Swimming with Disabilities. All schools and swimmers with disabilities are welcome, including those who attend main stream schools, they can enter as an individual and swim under their schools name. The only general guideline is that the school must be in the Liverpool Education Authority. Can you mention this to any of your members or coaches who may be interested as letters have already been circulated to all schools, city wide but there is no way of knowing that this information always gets through to the right teaching staff, i.e. the PE Staff or interested Staff. If anyone wants further information, please ask them to contact Katie Bull via email on katie.bull@liverpool.gov.uk or telephone 233 - 8875.

I've also been asked to circulate the E.S.S.A. Primary School Relay Championship Entry Pack and Entry Forms, which I've attached to this email for your information, would you also circulate this information please and possibly post it on your notice boards.

We are looking forward to once again arranging another set of meetings with all of you to keep up a regular dialogue and an opportunity to exchange views and information. We felt this went extremely well last time and we had a large amount of positive feedback. If any individual club wishes to contact us and suggest a date for the diary, please do so and if you have a specific topic that you wish to discuss, please let us know.

If anyone has any questions on the Swim Squads or requires information, please don't hesitate to contact me, Ian Ingman via email on ingmani@liverpool.gov.uk or telephone 233 - 8872, this number also has an answer machine attached to it and available 24 hours a day.

Yours sincerely

Ian Ingman
