On Sunday 31 January Bridgefield Senior Men's Water Polo team played in the Liverpool&District Grade 1 Tournament. This tournament is a combination of the top four teams in the league which the 2009 season were Bridgefield, Liverpool A, Birkenhead and Chester. Bridgefield are currently in first in the division, but there are un-played games and the final positions in the league will be decided at the Liverpool & district water Polo AGM on Tuesday 9 February. Liverpool A were forced to withdraw from the competition due to lack of players leaving Bridgefield, Birkenhead and Chester to compete for the honours. In the first game Chester were victorious beating Birkenhead 7-4. The second game between Bridgefield and Chester resulted in a 6-2 victory for Bridgefield. The final game of the tournament was between Bridgefield and Birkenhead. It was an evenly balanced game with both teams scoring two goals in the first half. In the second half there was a strong team performance form Bridgefield who were the eventually winners with an impressive 6-4 score Bridgefield's top scorer of the tournament was Andy Faulkner with 4 of Bridgefield's 12 goals and 'Major King' was Anthony Mcguinness with three major fouls.
